The Postal Service Highway Contractors and their employees are under contract with the United States Postal Service to provide delivery services in support of the Postal Service’s ongoing operations. Postal services throughout the United States are not affected by State and local government actions that are restricting commercial and personal activities in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Postal Service is an entity of the Federal Government and will continue to provide postal services to the American people, as it is designated as an essential function under federal law. Postal and shipping workers are considered essential critical infrastructure workers, by the Department of Homeland Security, and have a special responsibility to maintain normal work schedules.
To ensure you stay safe and healthy, the Postal Administrators at our station have provided us with the necessary essentials and guidelines. We have been provided with mask, gloves, sanitizer and cleaning wipes, in an attempt to keep ourselves and others protected from the transmission of the Coronavirus. You are required to wear a mask in any situation were social distancing can not be achieved. You are responsible for your own hygiene and the cleanliness of your work space and vehicle. The Postal Service provides daily alerts and reminders to; clean your vehicle steering wheel, handles and controls frequently, along with sanitizing your heads and any other frequently touched spaces. It is important to know alerts and reminders are not suggestions, but are job requirements and can result in disciplinary action if ignored.
