Delivery is the most critical part of your day. Keep a steady rhythm at each box and each stop. Deliver all mail at each stop or location. Then, scan and deliver all packages at each stop or location. Never intermingle delivery of mail and packages at large locations. One must come before the other or you will miss scans.
Review expectations and safety reminders on the street.
Always stop and check your vehicle for anything that has been missed and needs to be delivered before you head back. Clear and stack your trays. Make sure your outgoing, 3M, and mark up mail is separated to insure nothing needs to be delivered before heading back to the office.
Park vehicle in route parking area, curb wheels and unload it completely. Make sure there is no trash, mail, packages or any delivery equipment left under seats, visors, or any other pockets where mail can fall into, then secure the vehicle. Separate outgoing mail into proper dispatch locations. Move to your case to document return time, do mark ups and separate any returnable mail in their proper holding areas. Return left notice items and return lock box key.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: It is never ok to leave any mail at all in your delivery vehicle. All undeliverable mail and equipment must be collected and brought into the post office upon your return. If this simple step is not completed and a delay in mail occurs, the responsible employee will face disciplinary consequences and/or termination.
Check with a clearing administrator that your scans are cleared.
After everything is done, unload and organize your hamper at your case for the next day.
Before you leave, always clean up your case. Trays and buckets must be cleared, stacked, and squared up neatly tucked under your case. Throw all trash in the trash can, hang up any notes for the next day, and remove all personal items from the case. Never leave your case in disarray. No one wants to clean up after you. Clock out.
